Are you interested in learning to make cold process soap, one of the traditional methods for making soap. Soap Chat and Class - is where you learn to make handcrafted soap using readily available resources: Plant based and Animal Based Fats, etc. We have been teaching soap making since 2016, and have sold out each class. Why is our class $125.00? You ask - well - you are going to get Connie's years of soaping and educational knowledge - tried and true answers and as she works to get her Certification in Soap Making from the HCSG, you gain that knowledge too. Learn the history of soap making in Appalachia; learn the basics of saponification; why natural is better! We will discuss the process - what are the safety rules, how to incorporate oils and lye with a liquid. It will be a wonderful learning experience! How do oils, liquid and lye become soap? Through the chemical reaction called saponification. You'll leave with your very own soap! This will be a simple soap - no additives or colors added. We'll be using all natural ingredients - you can choose whether you want all plant based ingredients or animal fats too. You'll get to make a batch of soap to take home. Plus you will get the reusable molds to continue at home. Classes are limited to 4-6 people max and over 16yrs old + only. Please note what to bring: You'll need to bring a couple of towels for this workshop to wrap your soaps up in to keep them insulated when taking home. A stick blender (if you have one) Rubber gloves Safety glasses or shield Wear a long sleeve shirt, long pants and close toed shoes. Bring an apron Bring a notebook to take notes. $125.00/4 hours
